CUPE stands against anti-Black racism
Over the past months, the Black Lives Matter movement has risen up across the world. After centuries of injustice, Black people and others have organized to demand an end to racism.
This movement has brought hope. But it has also opened old wounds. And it has forced all of us to speak difficult truth.
Racism against Black people, Indigenous peoples, anti-Asian racism, Islamophobia and other forms of hate are present in our communities and our institutions across the country. It exists in the form of policies that were created to discriminate against Black, Indigenous and racialized people. And we need to recognize it exists in our union, too.
We can do better. Our new video outlines some of the ways you and your local can stand with Black communities against racism.
With love, and compassion, with education, and with genuine commitment, we can dismantle systemic racism, together.
