CUPE 911’s Niagara paramedics, dispatchers and occupational therapists have now been working one full year without a contract.
Over the past decade, waiting year after year for a fair agreement has become far too normal.
That lack of respect, transparency and timely bargaining has consequences. It affects morale, retention and staffing. Ultimately, it puts additional pressure on the entire local EMS system
Things need to change.
Strikes should be avoided at all cost. CUPE 911 has remained ready to continue bargaining, while council and other key figures deem this stagnation ok.
The solution is simple: bargain fairly, bargain transparently, and treat the people who keep Niagara’s lifeline running with the fairness, equality and respect they deserve.
Resources. Retention. Respect. Parity. It shouldn’t take this long to understand..
Niagara’s paramedics, dispatchers and OTs deserve better!
